MR. SYED AAMIR ABDULLAH

Minister for Industries, Commerce and Technical Education

The most important pre-requisite to attract foreign direct investment is to provide a conducive and secure environment with the right resources and incentives. I am extremely happy that due to the efforts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government, we have been able to significantly improve the law and order situation. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has never been so rightly positioned for local and foreign investors to benefit from its hardworking and skilled labor, as well as its natural resources. Furthermore, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has presented a plethora of opportunities for investment in various growing sectors. Through the announcement of the first Industrial Policy 2016, we have offered unprecedented incentives to investors and that would ultimately spur the process of industrialization in the province on a mass scale. Due to the undeniable impact of industrialization on economic growth, I assure you that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will leave no stone unturned to provide its full cooperation and facilitation.

MR. ZULFIQAR ALI SHAH

Secretary Industries, Commerce and Technical Education Department

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has suffered the worst consequences of terrorism over the years, resulting in extremely adverse effects on its economic growth. Now with the success of Operation Zarb-e-Azb & the return of peace in the province & owing to its strategic location on the CPEC, KP is witnessing an upsurge in economic activity and prospects of investments. Sustainable industrial activity is crucial for the economic growth of any region. Against this backdrop, the important role to be played by the department cannot be over-emphasized. The department’s mandate is not only to create an enabling environment for sustainable industrialization, but also to promote complementing activities like commerce, trade, technical education, and vocational training. We are not only endeavoring to provide world-class infrastructure and facilities for our existing and new industrial zones but also trying to ensure the availability of adequately trained human resources. KP government was the first province to announce its Industrial Policy in 2016 which has an attractive incentives package that is expected to go a long way in attracting investment to the province. We are also trying to take all necessary measures to prepare for the tremendous opportunities that are likely to arise due to CPEC which would go a long way in turning around the destinies of the people of KP.

MR. GHAZANFAR ALI

Managing Director, Small Industries Development Board (SIDB)

SIDB is persistently contributing towards wealth sustainability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through development of physical infrastructure, meeting human capital needs and efficiently utilizing surplus natural resources. The existing export volume to Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics is below potential. A window of opportunity for industrial activity emerged in consequence to the Afghan-Pak Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA). The Government has also laid a strong emphasis on developing a convenient and integrated platform for ease of doing business to facilitate the prospective industrialists. Furthermore, with significant improvements in infrastructure due to investments made through China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the investment climate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is extremely promising. The small industries in the Province is supplying furnished and semi furnished inputs to large industries established in economic zones, and the prospect is bright because of further expansion of large industries under CPEC in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
